In line with the Trust’s strong focus on education, we provided a €5,000 grant to the Dublin Adult Learning Centre (DALC) to part fund its 2023 educational programme.

The DALC was established to support the learning needs of adults, primarily those living in north inner city Dublin, and caters for around 650 students each year. The majority of students are early school leavers for whom DALC provides a second chance at education. Over 75% of students in 2021 were people who left school before the age of 15.

As Irish and Dublin society has changed over the past 20 years, so too has the focus of DALC. The Centre now has a vibrant English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programme catering for those learning English with little or no education in their own language. Indeed, today more than half the students come from 42 different countries. These programmes cater for those who cannot read, write or speak English up to QQI Level 5, which equips them to progress to employment.

We are delighted to continue to support this worthy cause.
