Sea Scouts is a community group that has been operating in the Docklands area for over 100 years. The group is run on a not-for-profit basis focussed on the development of young people and all leadership is voluntary.

The programmes aim to build resilience through adventurous outdoor activities in a team-based environment. The young members hike, camp, sail, row and play games as well as undertake beach clean-ups, marine science and sustainability activities. Research shows that involvement in Scouting produces happier, more agile and more resilient young people. Sea Scouts currently has around 60 members and has the potential to grow if facilities and equipment allow.

This year the Trust provided a grant of €3,000 to assist the Sea Scouts modernise their changing facility and meet the standards in relation to privacy and hygiene, which should allow the Sea Scouts cater for a great number of younger children in the Inner City.
