The Sean Mc Dermott Taekwondo martial arts school was established by Master Christy Fagan in 1973 and is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year. The Club provides martial arts training for children from age 6 upwards, with students usually moving to a senior club at age 14. The tutors are all fully qualified and provide their tuition on a voluntary basis.  It is a testament to its success that over 2,000 children have gone through the Club in the past 50 years. There are multiple benefits from engaging in Taekwondo, among them developing physical stamina, discipline, respect, building self-esteem and learning self-defence.

Currently the Club has 25 members, split 50/50 between boys girls with nearly half the current membership being non-national children. The Trust was delighted to provide a grant of €2.5k to assist in funding their anniversary celebrations.
