Earlier this year we had a request from Fr. Robert Colclough, Administrator North Wall Parish St Laurence O'Toole Church, regarding a fundraising campaign they had launched to finance the restoration of their 170 Year Old Church Organ. On meeting Fr. Robert it became clear that this had become a huge community event as "It has uncovered many memories from among the community where people are coming and talking about their parents/grandparents  having been baptised, married and buried to the sound of the church organ over the years". Fr. Robert also explained that numerous events such as bake sales, 'Buy-a-key', Music bingo and other fundraisers were being organised within the community. He went on, "Moving forward, we would like to explore how the organ can be used in an educational capacity for a young person wanting to learn how to play the organ. Our vision within the parish, in partnership with the local schools and clubs, is to provide our community with alternative choices and to ultimately make a positive impact on their lives".
Following presentation to our board we were delighted to make a contribution of €5,000 to the restoration fund. Since then fundraising has been curtailed due to COVID-19 but but once lifted, it is hoped the fundraising will assist Fr. Robert in completing this fantastic initiative.
